Meet the AirEx team
We saw a gap in the market for proper agricultural aviation training, delivered by experienced people who are passionate about the industry. Every instructor has worked in agricultural aviation.
Our lead instructors, Bill and Adam, will take you through your Pilot Chemical Rating.
Bill Hartree
Lead Instructor
Bill grew up on a sheep and beef farm west of Napier and had his commercial pilot licence by 18. He started out on the ground, driving topdressing loader trucks around Gisborne, flew overseas for a stint, then came home to fly agricultural helicopters.
With more than 20 years in the industry, he’s now one of our two lead instructors for the Pilot Chemical Rating. Bill knows farms and he knows flying, and he loves helping new operators get both right.
Adam McKenna
Lead Instructor
Adam grew up in the rural central North Island and has turned his hand to just about everything: dairy farming, tractor contracting and earthmoving. More than a decade ago he swapped the tractor seat for a helicopter and has been spraying and spreading across the North Island ever since. All up, that’s over 20 years in agriculture.
He’s trained plenty of pilots along the way, and his style is practical and down to earth. Brand new or been at it for years, Adam makes sure it makes sense in the paddock, not just on paper.
